Core Beliefs of the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania
These statements summarize our essential, historic, and Pentecostal convictions. They guide our worship, discipleship, and mission across Tanzania and beyond. (Scripture references are provided for further study.)
We believe the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, trustworthy in all they affirm.
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—coequal in power and glory, sharing the same divine essence.
We believe Jesus is fully God and fully man; conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, sinless in life, crucified for our sins, bodily raised, ascended, and coming again in glory.
The Spirit glorifies Christ, convicts of sin, brings new birth, distributes gifts, and empowers believers for holy living and bold witness.
People are created in God’s image yet fallen in Adam; all have sinned and need salvation by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Salvation is God’s gift—accomplished by Christ’s atoning death and resurrection, received by repentance and faith, evidenced by a transformed life.
We believe in the post-conversion empowerment of the Holy Spirit for witness and service, with spiritual gifts active in the church today and exercised in love and order.
By the Spirit and the Word, believers pursue holiness in every area of life, growing in love, purity, and obedience.
The universal Church is the Body of Christ expressed in local congregations. We practice water baptism of believers and the Lord’s Supper in obedience to Christ.
We believe Christ is our Healer and that God answers prayer, granting healing according to His will. We pray boldly and trust Him completely.
We affirm marriage as a covenant before God and the primary context for nurture of children, reflecting Christ’s love and the Church’s devotion.
We eagerly await the visible return of Jesus, the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, and the renewal of all things where God dwells with His people forever.
